Make Life Your Business – Sample Selection “Consumer to Producer”

July 30, 2017October 16, 2021 JD Peterson

Consumer to Producer You’ve been lied to. You’ve been led to believe that the way you’re living life is the way you’re supposed to live. Led to believe that the important things in your life should be getting the latest phone, binge watching TV shows and hating your job. Led to believe that disfunction in […]

Raise Your Standards Or Live Below Your Potential Forever

April 1, 2017October 16, 2021 JD Peterson

There are times in life that you hit an emotional threshold. Times when you feel strongly that something must change. These, unlike most others, are the greatest times of growth. This is where the present feeling now causes you more pain, than the idea of changing does. Anytime you need to change something, this is […]

One Common Thought Process To Avoid In Order To Stay Driven

December 26, 2016October 16, 2021 JD Peterson

“If I just had….. THEN I would be happy!” It’s Christmas day and I’m certain that this thought motivated many people’s gift giving decisions this year. They spent time listening to their family members, their friends, their significant others and did their best to fulfill the wishes of those people. I hope for their sake […]

Get Up Early: Succeed Before The B.S.

December 12, 2016October 16, 2021 JD Peterson

There’s a secret to feeling fulfilled all day, and it starts before the clock hits 8am. It happens before the sun comes up. It happens when you put in work before all of the bullshit happens that a typical day can bring. It happens by getting up early. Successful people have known this forever. It’s […]

Why You Must Write Every Day

December 4, 2016 JD Peterson

Every day you must pick up a pen, and put it to paper. Buy a notebook, buy a nice pen and start to write. It doesn’t matter what you write. You just need to write something. I learned the power of this from a book called “The Accidental Genius” by a guy named Mark Levy. […]

Life Must Become Confusing

November 28, 2016 JD Peterson

I’ve been making daily changes in my life this past month. I wake up early to write every morning, I’m free-writing, and I’m planning out a few more projects that you should keep an eye out for. Since I’ve been doing this, I’ve noticed that my life has become confusing. I’m not confused on where […]

It Didn’t Kill Me (And It Won’t Kill You Either)

November 22, 2016October 16, 2021 JD Peterson

I stepped outside my comfort zone the other night. There were a pair of girls that work out at my gym that I had never interacted with before. I had thought about it for weeks, but never took the time to actually go over and say hi. When I go to the gym, I don’t […]

Your Routines Define You

November 15, 2016October 16, 2021 JD Peterson

I recently invested in the book “The Miracle Morning.” I had seen it in the “Suggested for You” section when I browsing on Amazon for quite some time. I didn’t think that it would be beneficial. I figured that the whole book was written in the name. Then I finally made the decision to buy […]

How To Be Creative

October 31, 2016October 16, 2021 JD Peterson

I was having a conversation with a friend of mine the other day and the topic turned to creativity. I was telling him about the fact that I’m working on a new book, and the effort it’s going to take to get it done. I was also telling him how excited I was because it […]

Action Is King And Always Will Be

October 23, 2016October 16, 2021 JD Peterson

I’ve always considered myself a “thinker.” Someone who spends more time in their head, and honestly, I tend to think I’m smarter than a lot of people. I’ve spent a good chunk of my life reading, learning, studying… Learning the habits and the thoughts of successful people. I enjoyed hearing people say “You’re always reading.” […]

About The Book

A Reluctant Gladiator is a collection of autobiographical short stories by author Pete M Richardson. Stumbling after the giants of American humor, A Reluctant Gladiator is a recollection of the author's past with an eye for the absurd and ironic. Follow this hapless protagonist from the jazz bandstand to high school detention; from a therapist's couch to a sweaty wrestling mat; from doing the Lord's work in Tokyo, Japan to pilfering Pokémon cards in gym class. Yes, it has been a strange life for Mr. Richardson, but at least he has picked up some stories along the way.
